Is your skin dry, red or flaky?

It is that time of year again were most skins tend to get dry, red and flaky. There are several ways to help with nourishing the skin and giving it that glow again.

Since I have been an Esthetician for over two decades,

I would of course first recommend getting a professional Facial.

For dry, dehydrated skins I believe getting a gentle peel and Oxygen facial is the best way to revitalize your skin without irritation. It plumps up the skin cells, minimizes lines and deeply nourishes the skin.

Many times I also recommend doing a professional Peel. There are many different kinds of Peels from no downtime, organic, fruit and flower based and more aggressive chemical Peels.

To determine what is the best Peel I recommend consulting with your Esthetician to go over all the options.

Skin tips you can do at home.

  • Use a humidifier in your bedroom, to keep moisture in the air helps with your skin.

  • Try to avoid washing your face with hot water daily. Cool water is best at the sink when cleansing your face.

  • If you don't have time for professional facial treatments make sure to have a good home routine that is simple yet effective. Fill out the Skin Quiz to get a recommendation based on your skin type and skin goals.

  • Exfoliate weekly with a gentle exfoliant like the Face Polish

  • The most important is to use a moisturizer that will hydrate, calm and protect from harsh elements.

For dry, red and flaky skin I recommend Le Vie Skincare Calm and Repair Creme.

Which I created many years ago due to seeing an increase in clients coming in for facials with extremely sensitized skin.

The creme is a luxurious rich calming and hydrating moisturizer created to give your skin radiant healthy glow to have youthful looking skin without compromising your health.

Client's love calm and repair because there skin feels soft and dewy instantly. It is 100% natural and a non toxic moisturizer that delivers results. It works on protecting the barrier and deeply nourish the skin cells. It helps to decrease the appearance of redness and wrinkles to give you radiant ageless looking skin.

Ingredients to avoid if you are dry are coconut oil, mineral oil, alcohol, glycolic acids. Some of these actually pull out lipids and dehydrate the skin. Every week clients bring in their products and I am surprised to see many of these ingredients used in many skincare lines still.

Ingredients used in calm and repair to give the skin a dewy look, deep hydration, and protect the barrier we use calming healing plant ingredients. Time release encapsulated evening primrose oil and rosemary to increases moisture.

To reduce sensitivity and irritation over time in the skin, we use a calming complex of herbs.

Also one main ingredient is sea whip it is a powerful healing ingredient. One of the strongest anti-inflammatory ingredients of all the sea plants. Used to soothe and hydrate the skin from sensitivity caused by environment, sunburns and help with aging. Hyaluronic acid ,sunflower oil and shea butter to nourish the skin, neck and decollete.

Some skins need a serum underneath there crème to boost deep hydration and to stimulate collagen.

My favorite in the winter is the Repairing Blue Oil it is a natural alternative to retinol.
